presented a workshop titled "Real-Life

Facilities with Diverse Populations."
This was presented at the American
Society on Aging-National Council on
Aging annual conference in Chicago.
Dr. Robert C. Niskar of Farmington
Hills ,accepted the Dr. Charles Cooper
Award from the University of Detroit
Mercy Dental School. The award is
presented to the most outstanding
clinical faculty member selected by
the dental class of 2007. He has been
given the honor of presenting the
seniors with their hoods at graduation
this spring.
State Sen. Gilda
Z. Jacobs, D-
Huntington Woods,
has been named
by the Michigan
Department of
Community Health
as a Public Policy

Champion. Her
efforts include
sponsorship of legislation requir-
ing defibrillators in health clubs and
emergency response vehicles; allowing
epinephrine auto-injector or inhalers
at a children's camp; and implement-
ing stricter protections of medical
records. She recently sponsored a
resolution to encourage incentives for
healthy behaviors for state employees.
