Thanks, Marsha. nswer: Dear Marsha, fat cells, also called "adipose -tissue," can be found in a number of different locations in the body (underneath your skin, on top of your kidneys, in the liver, and small amounts in muscle). The difference in fat concentrations is largely attributable to whether you are a man or a woman and the ac- tivity of the sex hormones estrogen and testosterone. Fat cells do not increase much after puberty The number of fat cells remains relatively steady —fat cells tend to get bigger or ) smaller depending on the changes in the concen- tration of fatty tissues. Excess adipose tissues / (fat cells) on a human i can lead to a variety of medical problems; how- ever, a round or large figure does not necessarily mean that there is a medical problem. It's always best to check with your physician. Eating high fat foods coupled with a lack of exercise can lead to unhealthy weight gain. It's much easier to feed/enlarge fat cells than to reduce them. I recommend that you exercise more, eat less bad (saturated) fat and more good (un- saturated) fats, and generally make better food and lifestyle choices. — Barbara Beznos, Registered Dietitian Shabbat Lights Key JN Phone Numbers: Candlelighting Friday, May 4, 8:17 p.m. Shabbat Ends Saturday, May 5, 9:24 p.m. Candlelighting Friday, May 11, 8:25 p.m. Shabbat Ends Saturday, May 12, 9:33 p.m. Direct Your Questions For d Counseling inquiries To Switchboard: (248) 354-6060 General News: (248) 351-5144 Business News: (248) 351-5148 Arts News: (248) 351-5142 Circulation: (248) 351-5174 Retail Ads: (248) 351-5151 Classified Ads: (248) 351-5100 , Integrated Nutrition, LLC, 32401 Northwestern Hwy.
