Supporting Scouting
Rabbi Daniel Nevins of Adat Shalom Synagogue in Farmington Hills, cen-
ter, received the National Jewish Committee on Scouting's "Shofar Award"
for making a significant impact on the Jewish youth in Metro Detroit
though his support of Scouting programs. Adat Shalom is home to Boy
Scout Troop 364 and Cub Scout Pack 364. With the rabbi are Donald
Davis, Unit Commissioner Boy Scout Troop 364, Cub Scout Pack 364;
Allen Olender, vice chairman, National Jewish Committee on Scouting;
Alan Chandross, Cub Scout Pack 364 Committee Chairman; and Peter

Steven Spielberg, left, at the Ambassadors for Humanity dinner and
reception honoring Wallis Annenberg. The April 23 event was held at
the Wallis Annenberg Building of the University of Southern California
Science Center in Los Angeles. Victor was invited because of her long-
time involvement with the Survivors of the Shoah Visual History
Foundation, now called the USC Shoah Foundation Institute for Visual
History and Education. She called Spielberg a mentsh."We talked about
our children, about the project, about being an interviewer ... it was won-
derful," she said. "I spoke with him at his table, where he was sitting with
Jerry Seinfeld and Bono. What an evening ... it feels like a dream now!"
