Dr. Jeffrey Zaks of Southfield has
been named corporate vice president
for clinical decision support for St.
John Health. He will be responsible for
transforming clinical data into knowl-
edge that will be used to improve care
delivery.

Kenneth R. Marcus
of West Bloomfield,
a senior partner
in the Health Care
Department at
Detroit-based law
firm Honigman
Miller Schwartz
Marcus
and Cohn LLP,
was awarded
the Founders Medal of Honor by
the Eastern Michigan Chapter of
Healthcare Financial Management
Association. The award reflects
Marcus' many years of service to
the organization. Previously, HFMA
awarded Marcus with the Bronze,
Silver and Gold Awards, recognizing
his service and participation in HFMA
activities. In addition, he was awarded
the Committee Chairman of the Year
Award and the Ernest Laetz Award,
reflecting his contribution to the
education of members of the chapter.
Marcus serves on the HFMA Eastern
Michigan Chapter Board of Directors.

Jason R. Abel of
West Bloomfield
recently joined the
Detroit-based law
firm Honigman
Miller Schwartz
and Cohn LLP as
an associate in the
Abel
firm's litigation
department. He
works in Honigman's Detroit office.
Abel has been a litigation associate
at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP in New
York City since September 2001, with
much of his work involving intellec-
tual property, internal investigations
and transnational litigation.

Anessa Owen Kramer, an attorney
with the Southfield firm of Brooks
Kushman PC, will moderate a discus-
sion on trademark enforcement issues
at the 2007 International Trademark
Association annual meeting in
Chicago. She serves on various INTA
committees, including the Legislative
and Regulation Committee as well as
the team that planned the event. She
will conduct a workshop considering
trademark enforcement and domain
name infringement matters.
