Two local students were among
those recognized at the recent hon-
ors convocation at University of
Detroit Mercy. Amy Sue Robbins of
Farmington Hills received the Dean's
Award, presented to undergraduate
students who have earned a cumula-
tive grade point average of 3.5 or bet-
ter; Mandy E. Friedenberg of Berkley
received the Catherine McAuley
Award, presented to students who
exemplify the mission of the McAuley
School of Nursing through excellence
in academics, leadership in clinical
practice and community service.
Jared Saperstein
of Birmingham
has been named by
Farbman Group, a
Southfield-based
real estate firm, as
sales director. He
is responsible for

coordinating and
supervising sales
initiatives for downtown Detroit-area
properties.
Vicki Sitron, former Detroiter,
will be one of the presenters at an
annual conference in Washington,
D.C., in October of the Jewish
Outreach Institute. Sitron is a gradu-
ate of the Sol Drachler Program in
Jewish Communal Leadership at the
University of Michigan and is director
of EntryPointDC GesherCity, a pro-
gram that connects young adults, ages
21-35, to each other and to resources
in the area, at the Washington, D.C.,
Jewish Community Center.

Cantor David A. Gutman, cantor
emeritus of Livonia's Congregation
Beit Kodesh, was honored by the con-
gregation for his 25 years of service
with the synagogue. During a kabbalat
Shabbat service, he was presented
with a plaque commemorating the
occasion; this was followed by a recep-
tion in his honor.
