Tradition: Anytime our 31/2-year-old daughter Shira Chaya finds spare
coins, she runs to put them in her tzedakah box. We talk about the
importance of giving. When the tzedakah box is full, Shira says she
wants "to give the money to people who don't have enough food to eat"
so we will donate it to Yad Ezra or Mazon.
Shira also teaches her brother Ari, 15 months, about giving tzedakah.
She puts change in his Noah's Ark tzedakah box in his bedroom and
tells him how important it is to help other people.
