LOUIS ROSS, 82,
of Longboat Key,
Fla., died April
2, 2007. He was a
retired partner of
Linden, Klain, Israel
and Ross, BDO
Ross
Seidman.
He was also a 60-
year member of Temple Israel, a past
vice president and board member
and their first accountant when they
were at the Detroit Institute of Arts,
a member of Temple Beth Israel
in Longboat Key and a past board
member and financial chairman for
Jewish Home for Aged.
Mr. Ross is survived by his wife,
Marsha Ross; daughter and son-
in-law, Ronna Ross and Steven
Schwartz of Bloomfield Hills; sons
and daughters-in-law, Richard and
Carolyn Ross of Arizona, Harold
Fried and Sarah Deson-Fried, Paul
and Ellen Fried, Jeffrey Fried; grand-
children, Susan and Jordan Schwartz,
Stephanie Fried, Rebecca Fried and
fiance, Jordan Bolton, Leah Fried,
Julie and Katie Fried, Erin and David
Fried.
Interment at Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be
made to the Norman Ross Memorial
Fund at Temple Israel. Arrangements
by Ira Kaufman Chapel.

EVA L. SCHMIDT, 89, of Novi,
died April 6, 2007.
She is survived her son and
daughter-in-law, Jonathan and
Barbara Schmidt of West Bloomfield;
daughter and son-in-law, Toby and
Russell Pintaura of Fenton, Mich.;
brother, Aaron Paul of Boulder Creek,
Calif.; grandchildren, Elaine Schmidt
and Wendi (Andre) Douville; great-
grandchildren, Zachary and Jacob;
many loving cousins, nieces, neph-
ews, other family members and
friends.
She was the beloved wife of the
late Saul Schmidt; sister of the late
Abby (the late Pearl) Paul; sister-in-
law of the late Edith Paul.
Contributions may be made
to a charity of one's choice.

SIMONE SHAFER, 77, of Laguna
Hills, Calif., formerly of Detroit, died
April 7, 2007.
She is survived by her husband,
Arthur Shafer of Laguna Hills; son
and daughter-in-law, Bruce and
Stephenie Shafer; grandchildren,
Anna Rose Shafer and Emiline Maria
Shafer. She was the beloved daughter
of the late Rose and the late Dr. Alex
Frank.
Interment at Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be

RUTH SILVERMAN, 93, of West
Bloomfield, died March 26, 2007. A
legal secretary, Mrs. Silverman was
a member of Congregation Shaarey
Zedek for over 50 years and a mem-
ber of its sisterhood. She also vol-
unteered for Jewish Federation Task
Force and JARC.
Mrs. Silverman is survived by
sons and daughters-in-law, Dr.
Philip and Barbara Silverman of
Scottsdale, Ariz., Dr. Raymond and
Alice Silverman of Highland Park,
Ill.; daughter and son-in-law, Lois
and Robert Kaplow of Farmington
Hills; grandchildren, Michelle and
Ronald Saltz, Jared Silverman and
Lange Taylor, Michael Silverman,
Joseph and Wendy Silverman, Julie
Kaplow Prossin and Alan Prossin,
Jeffrey Kaplow and Jessica Wolland;
great-grandchildren, Allison and
Hannah Saltz, Jonah Prossin; sister,
Beatrice Raitt of West Bloomfield;
brother and sister-in-law, Morton
and Cookie Oppenheim of Riverside,
Calif.; sisters-in-law and a brother-
in-law, Thelma Gottlieb, Bonnie and
Ron Miller, Evelyn Cohen.
She was the beloved wife of the
late Joseph Silverman; dear sister-
in-law of the late Dolores "Dollye"
Aronsson.
Interment at Oakview Cemetery.
