This page, clockwise from right: Tramp Art and twig-
crafted details, like the wall clock, picture frames,
lamp and mirrors, fill the enclosed porch centered
around a stone fireplace. Late Birmingham designer
Brian Killian found the twig-crafted chandelier, and
Annie found the red-white-and-blue artwork above
the fireplace at a summer art fair in Charlevoix.
"There's a woman who sells works of art made of
old windows," says Annie, whose two daughters
own similar pieces. "They usually have sayings on
them and are like a bit of Americana." A rectangular
pine table was custom-made by Country Classics
in Birmingham, while Annie found the hutch, crafted
from old shutters, at a shop in Atlanta, Ga. Koi live
happily in the pond Rob keeps for them. Opposite
page, top to bottom: "Anything that's fish-related
we keep by the fish pond," Annie explains of an
enchanting mermaid. "My husband bought my first
piece for me in an antiques shop in Grand Rapids
while away on business, and it just grew from there,"
Annie recalls of her Roseville pottery collection,
much of which is embellished with trees and cher-
ubs, typical of the Donatello pattern, which dates to
around 1915. A hibiscus grows near the pond.
