Learn Of Life Cycles
The West Bloomfield-based Temple
Israel Gesharim group will explore
the topic of life cycle events with
Rabbi Harold Loss at 7 p.m. Thursday,
April 19. Participants will examine
events from one's birth through early
teens, including brit milah, baby
naming, bar/bat mitzvah and confir-
mation.
Gesharim is open to the com-
munity, free of charge. Participants
include those who have converted to
Judaism, those who are in the process
of conversion, those involved in an
interfaith relationship and those who
simply wish to learn more about
Judaism. The group meets monthly
and provides education, support and
discussion opportunities.

Mega Book Sale Slated
Bookstock, Metro Detroit's largest
used book and media sale benefiting
local literacy and education projects,
will be held Sunday, April 29, through
Sunday, May 6, at Livonia's Laurel
Park Place. Detroit Free Press col-
umnist Rochelle Riley is Bookstock's
honorary chairperson.
Bookstock has tens of thousands
of donated used books, DVDs, CDs,
books on tape, magazines and
records for sale at bargain prices.
The pre-sale will be 8:45-11:45 a.m.
Sunday, April 29. There is a $10
charge for the pre-sale. Regular sale
times are Sundays, noon-6 p.m.,
and Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-9
p.m. Books will be sold half-price on
Sunday, May 6.
Bookstock is sponsored by the
Detroit Jewish Coalition for Literacy,
the Oakland Literacy Council, the
Jewish News, Schostak Brothers &
Co. and a consortium of Jewish com-
munal nonprofit organizations.

Remember The Holocaust
An interfaith commemoration of the
Holocaust will be held 7 p.m. Sunday,
April 15, at Shaar Hashomayim
Synagogue in Windsor. The speaker
will be Bernie M. Faber, chief execu-
tive officer of the Canadian Jewish
Congress. The Windsor Community
Choir will perform.
Event sponsors are three Windsor
synagogues — Congregation Beth
El, Shaar Hashomayim and Shaarey
Zedek — and the Windsor Jewish
Federation.
