college professor at
Oakland Community
College, Mrs. Keidan
was also an attor-
ney. She received
Sarah Keidan
her bachelor of
arts degree from
University of Michigan, her master's
from the University of Chicago in
international law and diplomacy
and herjurisdoctorfrom the Detroit
College of Law.
Academically she was a member
of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Pi
Sigma Delta, Pi Lambda Theta; for
hergraduate work, she was named a
Woodrow Wilson Fellow.
Mrs. Keidan was a member of
the State Bar of Michigan as well
as the American Political Science
Association.
Her professional career included
being a secondary school teacher
and a faculty member at Oakland
Community College, where she
served as department chair, campus
academic senatechair, interim dean
of academic and student services
and director-coordinatorofthe para-
legal program.
Numerous community agencies
benefited from Mrs. Keidan's mem-
bership on their boards. Among
them are the DeRoy Testamentary
Foundation, the Medici Archive

Project Inc., the
Alliance for Children
and Families as well
as Oakland Family
Services.
Her interests also
involved the Abuse
and Neglect Council
of Oakland County,
the National Council
of Jewish Women,
Orchards Children's
Services and Music Aviva.
Mrs. Keidan is survived by
daughters and sons-in-law, Laura
and Craig Martin of Chicago
and Mimi and Phil Seltzer of
West Bloomfield; grandchildren,
Joshua and Danielle Martin,
Harrison and Samuel Seltzer.
She was the beloved daughter
of the late Leonard and the late
Josephine Weiner.
Interment was at Clover Hill
Park Cemetery. Contributions

MIRIAM BLAUER, 91, of West
Bloomfield, died March 14, 2007.
She is survived by her children,
Mark and Genie Nakell of Portland,
Maine, Barbara and Allan Ben of
West Bloomfield, Charles and Susan
Nakell of Portland, Ore.; sister, Faye
Fredson of Eauclaire, Wis.; grandchil-
dren, Joshua (Meredith) Ben, Michael
(Jaime) Ben, Noah (Lorna) Nakell,
Sarah (John) Reidy; great-grand-
children, Caryn Ben, Calder Nakell,
Meghan and Jack Reidy; devoted care-
giver, Sadie Brant; many other loving
family members and friends.
She was the beloved wife of the
late Gerard Nakell and the late Joseph
Blauer; sister of the late Jean Pheffer;
lifelong friend of the late Sarah Schiff.
Interment at Hebrew Memorial

Park. Contributions may be made
to Hadassah or to a charity of one's
choice. Arrangements by Dorfman
Chapel.

PEARL FRIEDMAN, 80, of West
Bloomfield, died March 12, 2007.
She is survived by her husband,
