James Caan, who turns 67 this
week, says he won't return next
season to his co-starring role on
the NBC series Las Vegas. Four
years on the show gave Caan some
welcome job secu-
rity following a
long up-and-down
movie career.
However, the
Jewish actor says
he missed out on
some movie parts
James Caan
because of Las
Vegas, and he
wants to try acting in films again.
Caan added that many Las Vegas
plots were pretty farfetched, and
he confessed he rarely watches his
own show.
As you might have heard, Marvel
Comics is killing off Captain
America, the famous comic book
character created in 1941 by the
Jewish duo of Jack Kirby and
Joe Simon. Kirby (born Jacob
Kurtzberg) died in 1994, but Simon
is still alive and well at 93. He told
a public radio interviewer that he
is now "sitting shivah" for Captain
America. 7_1
