Cheney At AIPAC
Washington/JTA— Confronting
Iran requires victory in Iraq, U.S.
Vice President Dick Cheney told
the American Israel Public Affairs
Committee's annual policy confer-
ence.
Cheney, addressing nearly 6,000
delegates at the AIPAC plenum on
Monday, appealed for support for
the administration's Iraq policies.
A central plank of this year's con-
ference is strong bipartisan support
for tightening sanctions against
Iran. Opposition to the Iraq war
runs high among Jewish voters and
a number of the Democratic Party
speakers at this year's conference
are among the most vocal oppo-
nents of the war.

Gaza Produce Sought
Raniallah/JTA — Palestinian
farmers are reportedly preparing
for a windfall from sales of produce
to Israelis who observe Jewish law
on allowing Jewish-owned land to
lie fallow.
The next Jewish year, 5768, is
shmitta, meaning that it falls
at the end of a seven-year cycle
ordained by the Torah and in which
religiously observant Israelis are
formally barred from raising or
harvesting fruits and vegetables.
Some fervently Orthodox groups
in Israel have been in talks with
Palestinian officials on obtaining
produce from the Gaza Strip as an
alternative, the Israeli newspaper
Hatzofeh reported Monday. The
meetings reportedly were facili-
tated by the Israeli military, which
pledged to expedite the merchan-
dise's transport out of Gaza.

HONORING the

}Roderick hired Gittleman to complete basement renovations
on their Franklin home, it was bare bones, to say the least.

VOLUNTEERS

"Essentially, our basement was completely unfinished. It was
just concrete and one wall. We wanted a place that would
extend our home for our family — a place for the kids to play,
a place to entertain. And we wanted it to be a reflection of our
upper level," she explained.

of the Fenkell Volunteer Club

Why Gittleman? Michele said the decision was an easy one.

A night you won't believe

A performance you'll never forger

"We interviewed several contractors based on referrals, their
reputation and qualifications," she said, noting that Gittleman
struck them as being the most forthright.

"They were totally upfront about setting expectations and
about the costs. I've heard horror stories about renovation
projects, but Gittleman respected our family's privacy and
always cleaned up at the end of the day."

Furthermore, Michele said she enjoyed the fact that everyone at Gittleman worked together as a team to
complete the renovations.

"I liked their approach. Everyone we had contact with seemed to be familiar with our project. Everyone was on
the same page, and the staff was pleasant."

Today, the Cairgles enjoy a fully remodeled lower level that offers a whole new dimension of living space, yet
blends perfectly with the rest of their home. Gittleman redesigned their basement to include a kitchen with bar
area, a family room, bathroom, game room, play area, gym and a walkout with Jacuzzi.

Though the renovations have only been complete for a month, the Cairgles wasted no time and have already
hosted a gathering in their new basement.

MARC
SALEM'S

"My favorite part is probably the kitchen — but I like it all!"

So the next time you want to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary, call the team you can trust to meet
your family's needs...Call Gittleman.

JUST ASK THE CAIRGLE'S.

Iranian Jewish Mayor

Beverly Hills, Calif:/JTA — An
Iranian-born Jew won the mayor-
alty of Beverly Hills after a cliff-
hanger vote count. At his March
27 inauguration, Jimmy Jamshid
Delshad will claim another title
— top Iranian-born public official
in the United States.
Although the election in the
independent municipality was held
March 6, the results hung in the
balance until March 9 following a
partial count of absentee and provi-
sional ballots. Final figures are not
expected to be certified until March
16. Delshad, 66, marked his victory
on Saturday morning by attend-
ing services at three synagogues to
thank congregants for their support.
