Survivor To Speak
The Congregation Beth Ahm Men's
Club will host Holocaust survivor Ruth
Webber at 10 a.m. Sunday, March 18, at
the West Bloomfield synagogue.
Mrs. Webber went from the Ostrowiec
ghetto to several concentration camps,
ending up at Auschwitz.

Family Holocaust Memorial Center in
Farmington Hills.
Schloss will be interviewed by
Professor Sidney Bolkosky at 7:30 p.m.,
Tuesday, March 20, in a program open
to the community.
A special teen program, '`And Then
They Came for Me: Remembering the
World of Anne Frank:' will be at 8 p.m.,
Wednesday, March 21. Jewish youth
group members and other teens are
welcome at no charge.
Schloss' childhood experiences parallel
those of her friend, Anne Frank. Her fam-
ily fled Austria in 1938 for Amsterdam
and lived in hiding for two years. When
she was 15, they were betrayed and sent
to Auschwitz, which she survived with
her mother. Years later, her mother mar-
ried Otto Frank, Anne's father.
Schloss also will speak to various
student groups at the Holocaust Center,
Temple Israel in West Bloomfield and
Michigan State University Hillel as well
as to Jewish professionals at the Max M.
Fisher Federation Building, Bloomfield
Township. Her visit is sponsored by
B'nai B'rith Great Lakes Region as part
of its Enlighten America project.

'Dressy' Rummage Sale
Hadassah has been collecting women's
"black tie" attire including formal
dresses and gowns, prom dresses cock-
tail suits, bridesmaids' dresses and even
wedding gowns.
The Dressy Rummage Sale will be held
at Hadassah House at 5030 Orchard Lake
Road, across from West Bloomfield High
School, on Sunday, March 18, from noon
to 5 p.m. and Monday, March 19, from
noon to 8 p.m.

MSU Plans Tribute
The Lester J. Morris Hillel Jewish
Student Center at Michigan State
University will hold its second annual
tribute dinner, "Inspiring Future
Jewish Leaders:' Monday, April 16, at
the Jewish Community Center in West
Bloomfield.
MSU Hillel will honor Mark Davidoff
and Margie Dunn for their many years
of leadership and commitment to the
Jewish community and to Jewish life on
campus.
Penny Blumenstein, Larry Jackier,
Bob Naftaly and Patrice Morris Phillips
are event co-chairs. Sue Maniloff is
chairperson of the tribute journal.
Mark Davidoff serves on the boards
of the JCC, Jewish Home and Aging
Services, the Jewish Fund, the Michigan
Roundtable for Diversity and Inclusion
and the Metropolitan Affairs Coalition.

The late Emma Lazaroff Schaver, a
noted soprano soloist who performed
for Holocaust survivors and later
turned to philanthropic pursuits, is
remembered in a
traveling exhibit,
"Mothers, Daughters
and Leaders of
Oakland County:'
which opened March
2, at the Rochester
Hills Museum at Van
Hoosen Farm.

2003 at age 97, was
nominated for the honor by the Jewish
Historical Society of Michigan.
As a young woman, Schaver per-
formed with several opera companies
and orchestras, including the Detroit
Symphony Orchestra. Sponsored
by UNRWA and the World. Jewish
Congress, she was a member of the
first cultural mission to Europe after
World War II, presenting concerts for
Holocaust survivors in displaced per-
sons camps in Germany.
The Rochester Hills Museum at Van
Hoosen Farm is located on Van Hoosen
Road, off Tienken, one mile east of
Rochester Road. It is open Wednesdays
through Saturdays, 1-4 p.m. The exhibit
will be on view through June 16 and
then will travel to various locations

Distinguished Leadership Centennial
Award at a program

honor of the National
AJC's Centennial

Bloomfield Township.

will give the keynote address. Tickets

observed.
White became involved with the
Detroit Chapter of the AJC in 1980,
as a participant in the chapter's
Black-Jewish Dialogue. She began her
national volunteer involvement in 1992
and now sits on the executive commit-
tee of its national board of governors.
She is active in the Jewish Federation
of Metropolitan Detroit and is a vice
president of JVS.
Judge Avern Cohn is the centennial
tribute chairman. Associate co-chairs
