celebrate! 2007
raduation is a major
accomplishment
— and a cause for
celebration. There are
sure to be plenty of
parties planned, so be sure to
send invitations early. Decorative
papers, rolled and tied with rib-
bons that represent the school
colors make a great diploma-like
invitation.
To keep the theme going,
decorate the party site with mor-
tarboards (either real ones or
those made from black construc-
tion paper), school pennants or
banners, and incorporate
school colors in
flowers and paper-
good selections.
Even trash cans
with school colors
and emblems make
great floral center-
pieces and serve a
post-party purpose.
You can also put out
the graduate's yearbooks
so that guests can leaf through
them. And, of course, integrate
the school's mascot as much as
possible — whether through pic-
tures, props or costumes.
No party is complete without
food. Grilled burgers, sub sand-
wiches or pizza slices always
make the kids happy. Buy or
rent some serving trays, so that
guests can help themselves caf-
eteria-style. You could also use
lunch boxes as serving trays, for a
grade-school feel.
Your party's attendees will natu-
rally want to talk with the guest
of honor about his or her plans.
When everyone is relaxed and
in a jovial mood, offer a toast to
the graduate. Just make sure that
only guests of legal drinking age
raise glasses of beer or wine.
Be sure to ask the graduate
to say a few words, and offer an
opportunity for guests to pass
along their good wishes for the
graduate's future.
