Casual Upscale

Jeremy Restaurant's broadened selections bring back the crowds.

I

f there was one negative when
opened in 2003, the thought might
have been that there were not enough
options to choose from its menu.
Today, Jeremy Restaurant on Cass Lake
Road, west of Orchard Lake Road, Keego
Harbor, has done much to rectify that fact.
Dinner entree selections have jumped
from four or five to nine choices, without
including those not listed on the menu
but also available ... like its own version
of lemon chicken ... The only entree left
from the original menu is the beef tender-
loin medallions.
Pasta selections have jumped from one
to four choices, with all offered in both
full and half orders ... The half orders,
by the way, are also available for four of
the entrees ... beef tenderloin, short ribs,
sauteed lemon chicken and grilled chicken
Caesar salad.
The formerly no-dinner entree salads
have been replaced with four interesting
grilled preferences (salmon, beef tender-
loin, Ahi tuna and chicken).
There weren't even sandwiches to be
had previously ... Among the biggest
sellers is the half-pound, char-grilled
"Jeremy" burger with premise-made
onion-and-port-wine marmalade, etc., on
toasted roll, accompanied by a stack of
hand-cut salt-and-pepper fries quick-fried
in no-trans-fat vegetable oil, $11.95 ...
And a delicious open-face sauteed tilapia
fish sandwich with grilled brioche, plus
the hand-cut salt-and-pepper fries, also
$11.95.
Side dishes? ... No such thing before at
Jeremy ... Now there are six, with sharing
encouraged ... Also, a different premises-
made soup available daily in cup or bowl.

Being an excellent chef ...
and that Jeremy Grandon
certainly is, preparing food
by what may have the same
name but are so much unlike
those found elsewhere, and
his wife Paula, a perfect busi-
ness head and hostess ... are
not enough these days ... And
it is to their credit that a keen
recognition of this has been
realized by them ... Jeremy
Restaurant is no longer maybe thought of
as only a "special occasion" place ... The
misleading fine-dining label has rightfully
been replaced with the added selections
and casual, upscale note that brings more
frequent attendance.
Jeremy and Paula take a great personal
pride in their neighborhood restaurant
... And this is good ... Nothing like a
chef/owner who loves his work and wants
customers to love it too, and a partner in
life who works side by side sharing his
feeling, with customer satisfaction a major
priority.
Everything at Jeremy Restaurant is pre-
pared to order in the dinner-only opera-
tion ... Tuesday-Sunday, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
... Sunday has become somewhat of a
"bring the kids evening," with a special
menu now for the youngsters ... And
Thursdays offer a $6 martini that has also
gained much popularity ... Seating is for
70, plus an outdoor patio seating another
25, opening soon with the warm weather.
The wonderful Jeremy innovations
are readily acclaimed, and his Culinary
Institute of America and Tribute
Restaurant experiences come to play in
Jeremy's own personal variations of din-

ing delights ... One of them,
the pan-roasted salmon, is
with a secret Takashi Yagahashi
(former Tribute chef) sauce
that Jeremy has improvised to
an ever higher degree ... And
on the dessert side, Belgian
hot chocolate is a takeoff on
the one made at Angeline's
in Paris, with chocolate, nut
and raisin biscotti and fresh
whipped cream, plus his own
good, innovative style of slight alteration,
$7.
Being only minutes from the northwest
areas of West Bloomfield, Bloomfield Hills,
Birmingham, Southfield, etc., gives it easy
and quick access.
Jeremy Restaurant and Bar is now a
neighborhood dining gem that has been
polished into an even more beautiful
sparkle.
REGARDING E - MAILS about
Pei Wei Asian Diner opening in October
at Orchard Lake Road and 14 Mile,
Farmington Hills, not serving hot tea or
hot coffee, Jason Miller, communications
manager for P.F. Chang's China Bistro, its
parent company, says, "We do serve premi-
um hot tea in our restaurants. We do not
serve coffee, however. Coffee and dessert
are not part of our quick-casual restaurant
model."
WAITING IS TOUGH for this year's
Flavors of Michigan by American Liver
Foundation, Michigan Chapter, Monday,
June 11, at the Ritz-Canton, Dearborn.
This is only the third year, but it has
easily vaulted among this area's top pre-
sentations ... The first-year attendance
was around 100 ... Then, after people

discovered its high uniqueness, the next
year more than doubled with 219 ... 2007
should easily beat that mark.
Some 25 top chefs will prepare dishes
from food they donate, along with their
time and talents, cooking at half-moon
tables each in front of about 12 drooling
onlookers ... The five-course dinners
are paired with fine wines, and $200 per
person also includes passed, elegant, gour-
met hors d'oeuvres, silent luxury auction,
music and a lot of fun ... Call chairperson
Suzanne Gilson, (248) 561-0777.
MAIL DEPT. ... "We at Beans &
Cornbread are proud to inform everyone
that our menu is completely trans-fatty-
acid free. Although there sometimes
is a misperception that fried foods are
not healthy, I would like to tell everyone
that we fry and saute only using 100
percent vegetable oil with absolutely no
grams of trans fat." ... Patrick Coleman,
owner, Beans & Cornbread, Northwestern
Highway, Southfield.
REUNION DEPT. ... 40th by Oak
Park High will be Sept. 1, at Peking House,
