• Touring the Judaean Youth
Hostel's beautiful new facilities
housing our American youth who
shared their joy, passion and grati-
tude for the opportunity to partic-
ipate in the amazing programming
that results in young Zionists corn-
mitted to Israel and Judaism.
Hadassah builds on a tradi-
tion that has endured for 95
years, since Henrietta Szold first
announced her vision of "practical
Zionism." Having been involved
with Hadassah's mission as it is
expressed in the United States and
in our community — education,
health awareness, community
service and advocacy — has been
very fulfilling. Seeing the very
tangible impact that Hadassah has
on the people of Israel, and on the
country as a whole, was inspiring
and motivating.
I, like so many others in our
wonderful Detroit Jewish commu-
nity, look forward to renewing my
commitment with ongoing energy
and enthusiasm. El

Szold Named To Hall

The late Henrietta Szold,
founder of Hadassah, the
Women's Zionist Organization
of America, will be inducted
into the National Women's
Hall of Fame. She will join 217
other women inducted since
1969.
According to Hadassah
National President June
Walker, "Henrietta Szold
was a towering
figure, not only
in Jewish his-
tory but for the
history of this
country, and she
richly deserves
this honor. The
life and deeds of
Henrietta Szold
our founder have
always served as a beacon
and source of inspiration to
Hadassah members every-
where.
"With this formal recogni-
tion, we – along with the
entire Jewish community and
all Americans – can take great
pride in her achievements."
