L
orraine Nesselson, accomplished
writer, talented contest winner
and devoted wife and mother,
died Feb. 19, 2007, at age 90.
Lorraine, who lived in the Hechtman
Jewish Apartments in West Bloomfield
for the past 22 years, became a published
writer at age 11 when the Detroit News
printed her short story "Peggy's Pet."
After that, her poems, essays and stories
appeared in the newspaper regularly. She
won several writing awards, including
the Scarab Club poetry award of an oil
painting as the best high school writer
citywide.
After high school, she was hired as a
secretary for the Campbell-Ewald adver-
tising agency in Detroit. She was soon
promoted to the position of copywriter,
which enabled her to support her parents
during the Depression.
"She was always helping people," said
her daughter Paula Stone of Farmington
Hills, who cared for her mother during
the last years of her life. "Every Pesach,

She is survived by her daughters and

Steinberg; great-grandchildren, Zachary
Cohen, Solomon Conroy.
Mrs. Bennett was the beloved wife of the
late Eric Bennett; dear sister-in-law of the
late Tessye Simon. Contributions may be

matic about her."

daughter, Paula Stone of Farmington
Hills, and cousin Beverly (Edward)
Avadenka of West Bloomfield.
She was the beloved wife of the late
Irven Nesselson and the mother of the
late Stanley Nesselson.
Interment was at Machpelah Cemetery.
