Back in 1958, he was the big
trophy winner at Joe Cornell's
Dance Studio on Wyoming in Detroit ...
Now, 49 years later, Chief Judge Stephen
Cooper of the 46th District Court in
Southfield, will have a party in his honor
with another Joe Cornell alumnus as the
master of ceremonies ... Steve's nephew,
barrister Ken Harris, former Joe Cornell
emcee and dance teacher, will do the hon-
ors at his uncle's retirement shindig.
It's set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, at
Southfield's Westin Hotel, with a committee
of lawyers, judges and community lead-
ers putting on the dinner and fun-filled
program.
Send $75 check, payable to Judge Cooper
Retirement Party, to Judge Barry Howard,
3910 Telegraph Road, Suite 200, Bloomfield
Hills, MI 48302.
After 20 years on the bench, Steve can
now devote more time to things he loves,
Ile mediation, arbitration, ceramics, weld-
ing, painting, kayaking, etc. ... His wife,
Caroline, has an even longer list for him
... including Steve playing with their first
grandchild, expected to arrive this spring.
