Nadine and Amy Farbman, both of Franklin 48 February 15 2007 Models on the runway Global Aid B old hues of purple, red, Orange, green and yellow jumped off the catwalk at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham during the annual "Tender at the Townsend" fashion show/fundraiser to benefit ORT. Models carried metallic purses in silver and gold and wore sky-high heels, including one sparkling pair embellished with mirrors. The Feb. 2 show also featured full skirts, cowboy boots and a barely-there bikini. More than 250 women attended the brunch and fashion show, which raised $60,000 for ORT's global network of schools and programs. "It's our best year yet:' said Sharon Eisenshtadt of Bloomfield Hills. She co-chaired the event along with Susan August, also of Bloomfield Hills. "We're helping educate 300,000 students around the world. Education empowers people for life," Eisenshtadt said. The event, now in its fifth year, was start- ed by ORT Michigan's young adult com- mittee to raise money and awareness. The trendy Birmingham boutique Tender once again provided the fashions. The Somerset Collection in Troy and-Style the maga- zine, part of Southfield-based Renaissance Media, were this year's corporate sponsors. "We started the fashion show three years ago and ifs grown each year," said brunch adviser Nicole Kovacs of West Bloomfield. "It's nice to see so many new names and new faces;' added Marlo Scott of Birmingham, another brunch adviser. "It was a beautiful show:' said Enid Debbie Karr of West Bloomfield and Laura Gorosh Birmingham Goodman of Bloomfield Hills as the mod- els marched on stage for an encore.
