"I think it's an interesting look at
white rappers — it's an entire sub-
culture," Serch said. "The show is a
cross between American Idol and
Survivor, but the hip hop history
version of it:'
About 10,000 people auditioned
for the show, but only 10 white rap-
pers were chosen to compete for the
$100,000 prize. During the taping,
the contestants were housed in an
apartment in the South Bronx, the
birthplace of hip hop, and put to
the test — undergoing challenges
to prove their hip hop knowledge
and lyrical skills. At the end of each
show, someone is sent home and
told to "step off."As you can imagine,
there's a lot of drama along the way.
"I thought it was hilarious',' said
Eric Rosenfeld of Birmingham
after watching the sneak preview.
"VH1 has a way of creating quirky
reality shows and it hits people in
the right spot — it was so real and
so funny:"
"It appeals cross-culturally:' added
Rich Klignian of Northville."Serch
is a natural for a host. I think it'll be
a hit!" II

"The (White) Rapper Show"

sodes, including one filmed in
