"The entire world is sustained by the Torah study of young children"

During the coming week, the students of Yeshiva Beth Yehudah will study in memory of

became Neumann/Smith after the
addition of partner Joel Smith.
We worked together for 26

most of that time," said Smith. "He
was a brother. I'm going to miss his
seichel [everyday wisdom].
"Ken felt that our work has
strength of purpose and great
integrity and was appropriate for
our century and our kind of life-

he received the AIA Michigan Gold
Medal, its highest honor.
Last year, the AIA Detroit
Chapter gave Ken the Blessing
Award named after Charles
Alexander Blessing, the most
prominent figure in American city
planning and a mentor of Ken.
"My dad was a kind, loving,
humane man," said son Paul
Neumann of Franklin. "At the end
of the day, he's remembered as a
good guy."
"He made a big imprint on
the world," said daughter Susan
Kaplan of Birmingham.
