of this,
..1 my 100th
column in the
Detroit Jewish
News, I'm go-
ing to dispense
with the usual
question and answer format and,
with your indulgence, talk a little
bit about my profession (dietitian/
nutritionist) and my approach to
nutrition counseling.

eflecti ng back on it, I know
that I was strongly influ-
enced to pursue a career in
dietetics/nutrition by the premature
passing of my parents. Their lives,
I believe, could have been signifi-
cantly extended (their illnesses at
least deferred, if not complete-
4_ ly avoided) by the proper ap-
plication of sound nutrition
principles both before and
after they became ill.

In 1999, I founded
fc
t‘\-
‘I, \/(if?) Integrated Nutrition so
that I could concentrate
on delivering personal-
\ )
ized, scientifically sound
\ / nutritional counseling
to my clients. From the
\
beginning, my focus has
been on nutritional problem
solving and encouraging long-term
behavioral changes. Whenever
appropriate, I believe in working
with a client's other healthcare
provider(s) as part of a "team" ap-
proach to help the client reach their
attainable health/lifestyle goals.
