Meanwhile, if you think you know
a lot about Judaism and marriage,

take this quick quiz to see whether
you're Mr./Ms. Knowledge him/her-
self, or whether you need to head
back to Hebrew school:
1)Why is it traditional for the man
to walk first to the chuppah (wed-
ding canopy)?
2) How many persons are there to
help the bride and groom as they
approach the chuppah?
3) What is written in the ketubah
(marriage contract)?
4) What does the chuppah symbol-
ize?
5) A Jewish wedding must be con-
ducted by a rabbi. True or false?
6) Why is a Jewish wedding often
called a kiddushin?
7) Why are Jewish weddings often
held outdoors at night?
8) Jewish grooms wear a kittel, a
white robe. Why?
9) Why does a bride circle her
husband seven times under the
chuppah?
10) What does the breaking of the
glass at the end of the ceremony
symbolize?
