editor's letter
AFT ER ALMOST 10 YEARS of working in magazines in New York City, I returned to Detroit,
my hometown, with my husband and our baby to be near our family. I admit, I was a little concerned about finding editorial
work in Detroit — but it turned out I didn't need to worry. This month, I celebrated my first anniversary as editor of Platinum.
Platinum magazine has grown from 12 pages practically overnight, and I'm thrilled to be a part of it. What started out as a
glossy insert has evolved into a full-fledged magazine, covering decor, entertaining, travel, restaurants and more — lifestyle issues
that people of all stripes find appealing and compelling.
Motivated by the success that we have achieved so quickly, we constantly aspire to make our product even better. In that vein,
we are kicking off the new year by debuting a brand-new look with this issue. You'll find the same popular departments, like
"All's Fare" and the newly renamed "Faces" (formerly "Around Town"), and features, including Entertaining and Fashion, but
with a focus on a fresh, clean look and an easy-to-navigate, reader-friendly design.
As always, we'd love to hear what you think about Platinum as well as all of our exciting changes. But mostly, we'd like to thank
you for helping to make Platinum what it has become — and we look forward to carrying it into the future together with you.
Happy New Year!
MISSION STATEMENT
Platinum is a monthly, glossy lifestyle
magazine published by the Detroit
Jewish News. It reflects all aspects of
life in the Metro Detroit Jewish com-
munity, including decor, fashion, food,
health, spirituality, books, shopping and
more. Whether profiling a unique mem-
ber of our community or the latest hot
spot or trend you should know about,
Platinum's got it covered. Our goal is
to be a part of the fabric of the Jewish
community and to reflect those who
have created it — our readers.
