EDITH DEITCH,

She was a teacher
who taught 3- and
4-year-old deaf chil-
dren at Detroit Day
School for the Deaf.
She also mentored
many teachers in her field, was the
founding president of City of Hope
Cancer Fighters in the 1950s, was a
building representative for Detroit
Federation of Teachers and was a role
model for her daughter and grand-
daughters, two of whom became law-
yers and one a doctor.
Mrs. Deitch is survived by her son
and daughter-in-law, Laurence and
Penny Deitch of Bingham Farms;
daughter and son-in-law, Lynne Deitch
and Leonard Mazor of Birmingham;
grandchildren, Sarah and Marc Persily,
Dr. Leslie Deitch and William Deitch;
sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and
Herman Canner; friend, Catherine
Jenkins; nieces and nephews. She was
the beloved wife of the late Sidney A.
Deitch.
