ABRAHAM F. CITRON, 93, of
Bloomfield Hills, died Dec. 7, 2006.
Prior to retirement in 1980, he was a
professor at the College of Education
at Wayne State University. He was
also a founding member of Temple
Shir Shalom and co-founder of
Better Education Through Simplified
spelling. Mr. Citron was a commu-
nity leader and activist to improve
interracial relations and interfaith
dialogue and marched with Martin
Luther King Jr.
He is survived by his wife,
Shirlee Citron; daughter and son-
in-law, Miriam and Elton Cairns of
California; son, Jonathan Citron of
Arizona; grandchildren, Benjamin
Grass, Joshua and Anne Grass;
great-granddaughter, Gabrielle
Grass.
Interment in Illinois.
Contributions may be made to
Temple Shir Shalom. Arrangements
by Ira Kaufman Chapel.

Bobbi Blitz is doing her part making every

hospice a Jewish hospice. The former nurse
is a care consultant for Seasons Hospice who
helps Jewish patients get the religious and
cultural comfort they need at the end of their
lives.

"I loved nursing, but this is the most gratifying
work I've ever done in my life," Bobbi says.
"People tell me I give so much to the families.
But really, my hospice families allow me to
help, and that is such a gift."

HOWARD GREEN, 83, of

Southfield , died Dec. 19. 2006. A
retail consultant in market research,
he received his Ph.D. from Harvard in
economic geography. He was a past
president and founder of Temple Kol
Ami. Mr. Green was also a veteran.
He is survived by a son and
daughter-in-law, Sanford and Leslie
Green of Bloomfield Hills; a son and
his partner, Jeffrey Green and Brad
Graber of Mill Valley, Calif.; grand-
children, Alan and Eli Green; loving
companion, Barbara Ruskin. He was
the beloved husband of the late Leah
Green; dear brother of the late Julius
Green.
Interment at Beth El Memorial
Park Cemetery. Contributions may be

Dept. of Advancement, 950 Main

Adele Goldstein of Farmington Hills;
grandchildren, Stefani (Brent) Nieb
and Todd Weber; many loving nieces,
nephews, other family members and
friends.

DR. LEONARD

H. LERNER, 81,
of West Bloomfield,
died Dec. 18, 2006.
He was an ophthal-
mologist with offic-
es in Southfield and
West Bloomfield. He
Lerner
was also a graduate
of Bates College in
Lewiston, Maine, and a graduate of
Marquette University Medical School.
He completed his residency at
Receiving Hospital-Kresge Eye
Institute and was on the staff at Sinai
from 1953. Dr. Lerner continued to
practice until June 2006. He was a
major intellect who loved music and
archaeology.
Dr. Lerner is survived by his wife,
Lorraine Lerner; daughters and son-
in-law, Adina Lerner of California,
Rachel and Stuart Rosenberg of
Illinois; son and daughter-in-law,
Joshua and Dr. Sandra Lerner of
Huntington Woods; grandchil-
dren, Allegra and Theo Rosenberg,
Arianna and Benjamin Lerner.
He was the dear brother of the
late Max Lerner and the late Lillian
Winkler.
Interment at Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be
made to the Michigan Opera Theatre,
Kadima or the Chamber Music
Society of Detroit. Arrangements by
Ira Kaufman Chapel.
