died Nov. 26, 2006.
He was an Army Air
Corps veteran of
World War II, who
Goodman
served as a gun-
sight mechanic stationed in the China,
Burma India Theater. After his honor-
able discharge in 1945, he attended
Wayne University on the GI Bill and
graduated in 1949 with a degree in
metallurgical engineering. He worked
for Ford, Electric Boat in Groton, Conn.,
and Westinghouse in Pittsburgh, Pa.;
but most of his career was spent as a
research and development engineer
for the United States government at
TACOM in Warren.
He made numerous trips to Israel to
work with the Israeli army on behalf of
TACOM. He was the recipient of many
honors and awards during his 40 years
of service with the government and
retired a week before his 81st birthday.
He belonged to many professional
organizations, chaired committees and
served on their boards.
Mr. Goodman was a Sunday school
teacher in New London, Conn., and
served on the board of Temple Beth El
there. He was also active in the affairs
of Temple Emanuel in Monroeville, Pa.
Mr. Goodman is survived by his
wife, Susan Goodman; sons, Steve
Goodman, Scott Goodman (partner,
Bunny Lockhart); sisters-in-law, Sylvia
Goodman, Carol Randel; brother-in-law,
Sanford Pearlman; many nieces and
nephews; numerous professional col-
leagues worldwide. He was the brother
of the late Gilbert Goodman; brother-
in-law of the late Janet Pearlman and
the late Norman Randel.
Interment at Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be
made to the Scleroderma Foundation,
Michigan Chapter, 30301 Northwestern
Highway, Suite #300, Farmington
Hills, MI 48334. Arrangements by Ira
Kaufman Chapel.

Detroiter of Las Vegas, Nev., died Dec. 6,
2006. He was a retired U.S. postal clerk.
He was also a 32nd Degree Mason and
a member of Temple Beth Sholom.
Mr. Karbal is survived by his son
and daughter-in-law, Dr. Michael and
Sharon Karbal of Las Vegas; daughter,
Carol Spelkin of Tarzana, Calif.; brother,
George Karbal of Oak Park; sister
and brother-in-law, Esther and Louis
Bialick; grandchildren, Miriam and
Heather Karbal, Daniel and Jennifer
Spelkin. He was the husband of the

late Ida Karbal; grandfather of the late
Benjamin Karbal.
Services at King David Memorial
Chapel in Las Vegas. Interment at King
David Cemetery.

LEIB PERCZYK, 93, of Oak Park,

died Dec. 7, 2006.
He is survived by his son and daugh-
ter-in-law, William and Gail Perczyk
of Oak Park; daughter and son-in-law,
Shaindel and Hersh Leib Leibowitz; 16
grandchildren, 92 great-grandchildren;
33 great-great grandchildren. He was
the beloved husband of the late Esther
Perczyk.
Contributions may be made to
Yeshiva Beth Yehudah, P'TACH or to
a charity of one's choice. Interment at
Hebrew Memorial Park. Arrangements
by Hebrew Memorial Chapel.

JEFFREY MARC
ROTH, 41, of West

Lake, Ohio, died Dec.
3, 2006. As a youth in
Oak Park, he found
his career at the ball-
park when he volun-

teered for B'nai B'rith.
As a teen he sold pizza at the Pontiac
Silverdome to raise funds for Rose AZA.
He landed a position with Delaware
North, a hospitality management firm,
serving clients at places as varied as
sports stadiums and national parks,
airports and entertainment venues.
He did everything from administer-
ing food services for spectators at the
Palace of Auburn Hills to working as
the general manager of concessions
at the Cleveland Browns Stadium. Mr.
Roth helped foster a program to have
kosher food served at that venue.
Every year, Jeff and his mother would
deliver meals on wheels on Christmas
Day for the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit.
Mr. Roth is survived by his par-
ents, Burton and Laura Roth of West
Bloomfield; sisters and brothers-in-law,
Melissa and Dirk Roth of Commerce,
Jodi and Joshua Isser of Commerce;
nieces and nephews, Max Roth, Emily
Roth, Daniel Isser and Hannah Isser;
special friend, Linda Harrell; many
other loving family members and
a world of dear friends. He was the
loving grandson of the late Gertrude
Silverman, the late Alexander and the
late Hilda Frank.
Interment at Beth Moses Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the
American Diabetes Association or to a
charity of one's choice. Arrangements
by Dorfman Chapel.
