Prior to retire- ment in 1980, he was a professor Citron at the College of Education at Wayne State University. He was also a founding member of Temple Shir Shalom and co-founder of Better Education Through Simplified Spelling. Mr. Citron was a community leader and activist to improve interracial relations and interfaith dialogue, and he marched with Martin Luther King Jr. Mr. Citron is survived by his wife, Shirlee Citron; daughter and son- in-law, Miriam and Elton Cairns of California; grandchildren, Benjamin Grass, Joshua and Anne Grass; great- granddaughter, Gabrielle Grass. Lauderdale, Fla., died Nov. 28, 2006. She graduated from Detroit Northern High School in 1937, married David Freedman, a local homebuilder, and was active in B'nai B'rith and Hadassah. They retired to Florida in 1981; David died in 1989; a daughter, Rita Freedman, died in 1996. Mrs. Freedman is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Elliot and Janet Freedman of Davis, Calif.
