nd Japan. Detroit, powered by automotive giants includ-

emocracy" for providing the wherewithal to defeat fascism.
Prior to America's involvement in World War II, however, General
otors, through its German subsidiary Opel, wound up providing
ateriel for the German war machine. On page 15 of today's JN is

For late-breaking news:

ues-
tion:
Dear
Barb a
frequent busi-
ness traveler.
Unfortunately,
I tend to slip
into my old, not-so-healthy eating
habits when I'm traveling. Any
suggestions? Thanks, Ted.

Jewish.coin

nswer: Dear Ted, As a not-
infrequent traveler myself,
I can certainly empathize
with your situation.

As with most weight loss/mainte-
nance strategies, planning is key.

Here are some personal be-
haviors that I've found very
helpful when I'm traveling:
• Buy a small, insulated,
lunch box-sized food con-
tainer to carry your own
food;
) • Put your healthy, non-
liquid foods in small,
sealed plastic containers*
and pack those in your
insulated "lunch box";
• Allow yourself time to eat
before traveling, and forego
airport/airline food and hotel
snacks in favor of your healthy
food whenever possible;
• Don't go to appointments hungry.

For much more information on the
subject, I recommend a great little
book called The Traveler's Diet:

Eatin. g Right and Staying Fit on
the Road by Peter Greenberg.

* You may want to use small
frozen packs or frozen food items
to keep your food cold—of course,
you should always check the
airline's rules in advance.
