HOLIDAY LIGHTS
ARE ALWAYS ON.

Bay Entertainment, .a distribu-
tion company, she has six DVDs
coming out next year — under
the series name Phonics 4 Babies
— with a new puppet, Giggles,
to spotlight.
"Lamp Chop always will be in my
heart, but I felt it was important to
bring a new puppet to this genera-
tion of children:' Lewis says. "When
we write about Lamb Chop, we think
of her as a 6-year-old girl. Giggles is
more like 2 [years old] because these
DVDs are aimed at kids 6-36 months.
"Giggles is an orange, cuddly alien;
and I designed her. She's adorable
and helps unleash the first 300 words
children need to learn."
As far as learning goes, Lewis
recalls picking up lots of life's les-
sons from being around her mom
— how each day is affected by what
comes before it, how big problems
can be tackled in small bits and how
important it is to speak positively of
oneself.
Lamb Chop's "sister" also credits
her mother for instilling good work
habits, and the younger Lewis spends
considerable time in rehearsal.
"The year Mom died, my husband,
a friend and I joined forces to create

a skydiving organization with events
to raise money for [charities]," she
explains. "Our first venture was to
do a Star of David skydive, which we
did during Passover, and we gave the
money to a Jewish family services
organization."
Lewis, who surfs and shops for
fun, considers Judaism important
to her life. The family makes a point
of having Shabbat dinner together,
and her son attends Hebrew school
at the Malibu Jewish Center and
Synagogue.
"Of all the venues I perform in
— nightclubs, cruise ships, USO
centers — I love performing in syna-
gogues most of all," says Lewis, who
has invited cousin and University
of Michigan student Aton Gelfond
to the Shaarey Zedek show. "It's like
coming home to family?' El
