Ethiopian Artist Speaks
Bizu Riki Mullu, an Ethiopian Jewish
artist who divides her time between
Jerusalem and New York City, will
provide the "Food for Thought" at
a luncheon hosted by Federation's
Women's Campaign and Education
Department, 12:30
p.m. Wednesday,
Dec. 6, at Knollwood
Country Club,
5050 W. Maple,
West Bloomfield.
Registration begins
at noon.
Mullu
In 1978, at the
age of 12, Mullu was
among the first 150 Ethiopian chil-
dren who left their families to live in
Israel. She has been a leading advo-
cate for Ethiopian Jewry.
As an artist, she designs bold,
bright jewelry with Ethiopian silver,
bronze and a rich array of beads. She
also designs brilliantly colored, hand-
embroidered talitot (prayer shawls)
The Food for Thought program
welcomes all women interested in
an entree into Jewish communal
life in Metro Detroit. The program
is brought to the community with
the support of corporate partner the
Rohlik Foundation. Co-chairs of the
program are Jodie Krasnick and Gail
K. Mayer.
The cost is $30 per person. RSVP
by Dec. 1 at wwwthisisfederation.org .

Teens Make Plans
Teen Connection members and
friends will go to Whirlyball for the
annual "Day After Thanksgiving
Program" 3-5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24, in
Novi.
All Jewish seventh- and eighth-
graders are invited to participate.
The cost is $20 for Teen Connection
members and $30 for first-time
guests. This includes court-time at
Whirlyball, a pizza and pop snack
and adult supervision. Transportation
will not be provided for this event.
The new Novi Whirlyball is
located at 41540 Grand River, west of
Meadowbrook Road.
Advance registration for the pro-
gram is required, using registration
forms that are available online at the
Michigan Region B'nai B'rith Youth
Organization Web site, www.mibbyo.
org , or by calling Stacey Wolf, (248)

Teen Connection, sponsored by
Michigan BBYO and the Jewish
Community Center, provides social
and recreational programs open to all
Jewish seventh- and eighth-graders.
