Adat Shalom Synagogue's SYNergy
Shabbat will feature Dr. Rick Hodes.
Activities begin at 5 p.m. Friday,
Nov. 17, with Kabbalat Shabbat ser-
vices. Shabbat Shaboom, a musical
service for families with children
through second grade, begins at 5:30
p.m. A Shabbat supper is at 6:15 p.m.
Dinner reservations are required.
At 7:15 p.m., Dr. Hodes will discuss
"Into Africa: A Jewish American
Doctor Among Refugees of Ethiopia."
Dr. Hodes is the American Jewish
Joint Distribution Committee's medi-
cal adviser in Ethiopia.

Are what you Eat — Food as
Medicine." Following an enhanced
Kiddush, Dr. Hodes will discuss
"Torah and Medicine: How Judaism
Teaches Me to Heal."
Other activities include:
• 10:30 a.m. Yoga 8z Yiddishkeit.
• 10:30 a.m. Be Torah! — creative
dramatics for second-graders and up.
• 10 a.m. Drop-off youth services

Interfaith Thanks
A celebration of thanksgiving and
brotherhood will be hosted by
Temple Beth El and Kirk in the Hills
and St. Hugo of the Hills churches
Sunday, Nov. 19,7 p.m. at the temple.
Participating clergy are Rabbi
Daniel B. Syme, Temple Beth El; Dr.
Norman Pritchard, Kirk in the Hills;
and Msgr. Anthony Tocco, St. Hugo.
The combined choirs, under the
direction of Rachel Gottlieb, cantorial
soloist at Temple Beth El, will sing. A
reception will follow.
