wo documentaries by
award-winning independent
filmmaker Gary Glaser of
Kalamazoo will be shown at this week-
end's National Baseball Hall of Fame
Film Festival in Cooperstown, N.Y.
Stranded at the Corner will be
screened at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The film
focuses on what Glaser calls the. aban-
donment.of Tiger Stadium since the
Detroit Tigers left fol-
lowing the 1999 season,
and the potential for
reuse of the facility.
While the city of
Detroit has struggled
for seven years to find
a developer willing to
take on a Tiger Stadium
redevelopment project,
the stadium has fallen
into disrepair. The historic structure at
the northwest corner of Michigan and
Trumbull could face the wrecking ball
as early as February.
Glaser's The Kalamazoo Kings will
be shown at 11 a.m. Sunday. The film
documents the on- and off-field suc-
cess of Kalamazoo's minor-league
baseball team. In 2005, the Kings won
the Frontier League championship
and the Governor's Service Award for
Outstanding Corporate Citizenship.
