He was heavily involved in politics and the last time we learned together, the week before his death, he wanted to talk about Proposal 2 [affirma- tive action]. "A pivotal point in his life was his Judaism. And peace in the world was definitely a goal in his life. He even named his son `Shalom, which means peace in Hebrew" Those who knew him best say they will carry on what Mr. Michlin stood for. "His work toward world peace and peace in Israel will live on in the work we all will continue to do," Leslye Borden said. Added her husband, "His vision of an interconnected, peaceful, Jewish, Christian, Muslim community, which he never lost, was simply one that the world has to catch up with." Michlin is survived by his children, Leslye Joyce and Dr. Phil Borden of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., Kenneth Brian and Linda Michlin of West Bloomfield, Shalom and Sarah Michlin of West Bloomfield, Joan Mindy and Jerome Ennis of Sarasota, Fla; grandchildren, Matthew Brooks Borden and Cheryl Aguilar, Amy Beth and Paul Jolly, Mitchell David Borden, Esther Zipporah Michlin, Samantha Michlin Ennis; great-grandchildren, Jasmine Jolly, Solana Jolly and Alexa Borden; brother and sis- ter-in-law, Norman and Bernice Michlin of West Bloomfield; sister and brother-in-law, Martha Zausmer Paul and Larry Paul of West Bloomfield.
