Dancing With 'Golem
The Festival Dancers will tell the story of a
mythical creature who came to life, thanks to
the utterance of magical words, in their original
presentation The Wonderful Golem of Prague, 3
p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, at the Jewish Community
Center in West Bloomfield.
The legend of the Golem began with Rabbi
Loew of Prague, who sculpted a superhuman
creature to protect the Prague shtetl from
destruction. He used forbidden knowledge of
the Kabbalah to give life to the Golem.
Dance director Dennis East will perform the
role of Rabbi Loew. Marcie Finebaum, Paul
Kosick and Ellen Starr will portray women of
Prague. Edward Mcnew, who has appeared with
a number of local ballet companies, will star as
the Golem.
