He was born May 10, 1920, in Warren, Ohio, and graduated from Ashland College, where he was later named as an outstanding alum- nus. He served as sergeant major in the Army during World War II. Mr. Kastan spent most of his life in Ashland, where he raised his family with Selma and owned and operated Kastan's Jewelers for over 50 years. He was a leader in the Jewish community and active in many civic organizations. He is survived by his wife and soul mate of 51 years, Selma Kastan; chil- dren, Dr. David and Carol Kastan of West Bloomfield, Bradley and Holly Kastan of Columbus, Stacey and Larry Kohn of Raleigh, N.C.; grandchildren, Lauren, Ben, Rebecca, Jake, Sam Kastan, Max, Sydney and Hayes Kohn; other relatives and friends whom he adored.
