A family program for 3-5-year-olds
and their parents/guardians will be
held 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, at
Congregation Shir Tikvah.
The children will spend an hour
learning with teacher Leah Gawel
and playing with friends.
Parents/guardians will spend an
hour learning with Rabbi Aaron.
Bring a brown-bag lunch for chil-

Learn About Judaism
Gesharim is an on-going, educa-
tion, support and discussion group
for people who have converted, are
in the process of conversion, are
involved in interfaith relationships
or are simply seeking to learn more
about Judaism. Sessions are taught
at no charge by Temple Israel clergy
and Jewish educators.
The group will meet 7 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 19, and explore the
Land of Israel.

host an evening at People's Pottery
in Birmingham 6-8 p.m. Sunday,
Oct. 22. There will be private shop-
ping, hors d'oeuvres and beverages
at the store, which specializes in
unique jewelry and other items
crafted by American artists.
People's Pottery will donate 20
percent of the evening's sales to the
sisterhood to benefit temple youth
programs.

The Birmingham Temple's October
Forum series will feature Michigan
Congressman Joseph Schwarz,
who will speak about "The War on
Science: Politics and Government"
on Monday, Oct. 23.
This program is presented with
Scientists and Citizens United, a
new advocacy organization.
On Monday, Oct. 30, Rabbi
Sherwin Wine will discuss the
upcoming election, the strategies of
the major political parties and the
views of American Jews.
The forums are presented at 8
p.m. at the Birmingham Temple.
The fee for each is $8 for non-mem-
bers; no charge for members.
