Torah Fund Luncheon
Michigan Branch Women's League
for Conservative Judaism will hold
its Torah Fund luncheon noon
Sunday, Oct. 22, at Congregation
Beth Shalom in Oak Park.
Guest speaker will be Rabbi
Lauren Berkun of Congregation
Shaarey Zedek in Oakland County.
Her topic will be "Total Immersion:
The Deeper Meaning of Mikvah."
Torah Fund is the Women's
League fundraising effort on behalf
of the Jewish Theological Seminary
of America, of which Rabbi Berkun
is a graduate. Contributions sup-
port scholarships for future rab-
bis, cantors and educators for the
Conservative movement.
Michigan Branch president
is Joyce Weingarten of the Adat
Shalom Synagogue Sisterhood.

is a donation of $18 per person. For

Disaster Aid Fundraiser
On Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Janice
Charach Epstein Gallery in the
Jewish Community Center in West
Bloomfield, there will be a benefit
wine tasting and strolling hors
d'oeuvre event.
The event is co-sponsored by
Whole Foods. Kosher mevushal
wines will be used. The evening
will begin at 7 p.m. and run until
10 p.m.
Proceeds will go to a disaster
relief fund affiliated with B'nai
B'rith.

Bear craft-making event for Kids
Kicking Cancer (KKC) on Aug. 24.
Fifty youths ages 2-17 enjoyed a
gift bag and food at the hosting
