Five local women have looked inward for entrepreneurial inspiration.

aving a baby changes everything, as the
i advertisement says. Sleep deprivation
; becomes a way of life — a life that is no
k longer one's own, mind you. But many new
parents find that that's all A-OK, because, on most
occasions, being a parent is a supremely joyful occupa-
tion.
Among the most addictively pleasing of those joys
is dressing those munchkins up. According to a recent
article in London's Financial Times, parents are spend-

ing more and more money on fashions for their off-
spring: It's an expression of our taste, our personality
and, as one mom says, "My son looks better in clothes
than I ever did."
Banking on the Times' premise, five area mothers
have gotten in touch with their inner fashionistas and
added entrepreneur to their pedigrees. The upside for
the rest of us? We get to indulge in the cool, funky and
playful styles that are the hallmark of each of the three
resulting businesses.
