won't be in Michigan after the elec-
tion to pick up the pieces.
I grew up at a time when there
were few opportunities for women
and minorities. I want my three
children to have more. Let it be
enough for me to tell them about
those times — let's hope that the
people of Michigan don't have to
experience them again.

in America? No, because the people
of Michigan believe in fairness.
Women make up approximately
60 percent of the nation's college
population. They are competing and
succeeding in Michigan and across
the nation. The suggestion that
women cannot be educated or get a
job without preferential treatment is
insulting and absurd. And, the sug-
gestion that a "minority" cannot be
educated or get a job without pref-
erential treatment is condescending
and blatantly racist.
Why would parents want the gov-
ernment to give their daughter pref-
erential treatment at the expense of
their son? This makes no sense.
A yes vote on Proposal 2 will end
job quotas, "minority" contract set-
asides and different standards in
college admissions. These practices
are wrong and it is time we got rid
of them.
Vote yes on 2 to ensure equal
treatment for all people. It's the right
thing to do.
