When Shiloh Jolie-Pitt was born, mom Angelina Jolie received an adorable gift from a well wisher: a bouquet of baby essen-
tials wrapped in silk flowers. And when Jolie was quoted as saying that the baby bouquet from the Baby Bunch was one of
her favorite gifts, Beth Desmon and Ericka Beletskiy and knew they were onto something.
The sisters, both of West Bloomfield, had just placed an order with the Baby Bunch to sell the bouquets on their Web
site, cutestbabyclothes.com . "A lot of our items are things that famous people's children are photographed wearing," says
Desmon, which is proof positive of the sense the pair has for what's uber-hot for the high-style tyke.
When Desmon's daughter, Sammi, now 2, was born, the full-time lawyer found that between work and mothering she
had no time to shop for the adorably frilly outfits she loved for her new baby. Solution: Start her own Web site. allowing her
to shop for the things she craved and provide them for other parents, too. She began to make appointments with children's
clothing reps visiting Michigan and soon realized she needed some help. Next step: Enlist the help of an expert in the form
of sister Beletskiy — stay-at-home mother of Noah, 8, and Jordan, 6'/2, with husband Andy — former preschool teacher at
Temple Israel and former manager of Scott Gregory in Bloomfield Hills.
By February 2005, Cutestbabyclothes.com was up and running, offering the gamut between super-girly faux fur-trimmed
coats and hats by Kate Mack and colorful cotton basics by Cotton Caboodle. And in the year and a half since then, business
has boomed. "Ninety-nine percent of our business is out of state," says Desmon, although they make a point of bringing their
wares to local fundraising events for Hadassah, Friendship Circle and others. "If we're doing well, it's important to us to give
back locally," explains Beletskiy, 33.
Of course, what started out as a time saver for Desmon, 30 — who is expecting her second child with husband Mike in
January — has made her life more hectic. "I never anticipated how much work it would be. People think it's so much fun and
glamourous to go on buying trips, but it's very time consuming," she says. "Which is OK. My family comes first. Ericka and I
just don't sleep very much."
