Beth El Book Clubs "Bagels & Books" and "Books & Bites," sponsored by Temple Beth El's Prentis Memorial Library and sisterhood, has set its lineup for the 2006-2007 year. The two groups will meet monthly on Mondays: "Bagels & Books" at 10 a.m. in the temple library and "Books & Bites" at 7 p.m. in the Alpert Room. They will follow the same reading schedule. Facilitators are Susan Chalom, professor of English at Wayne State University; Steven Berman, professor of English at Oakland Community College; Jan Durecki, archivist of the Rabbi Leo M. Franklin Archives of Temple Beth El; and Keren Alpert, temple direc- tor of education. On Monday, Oct. 9, the groups will discuss Last Days of Summer by Jonathan Rosen with facilitator Steve Berman. Rachel Calof's Story by Rachel Calof will be the topic of discussion Nov. 6, with facilitator Jan Durecki. On Dec. 18, Keren Alpert will lead a discussion of Rambarn's Ladder by Julie Salamon. Susan Chalom will facilitate the Jan. 29 discussion of The Kill Artist by Daniel Silva and the March 12 discussion of Joy Comes in the Morning by Steve Kluger. The series will-conclude April 30, with Berman discussing The Queen's Fool by.Phillipa Gregory. Cost of the series is $30. There is a $10 per session drop-in fee.
