and Chaplaincy Network staff. Much has changed
since he became a hospice caregiver five years ago.

ernard Panush, 94, of
Florham Park, N.J., for-
merly of Clearwater, Fla.,
and Detroit, died Sept. 15, 2006.
Born in Szczyczyn, Poland, he
emigrated at age 17, received
bachelor's and master's degrees
from Wayne University and was
offered a scholarship to the
Harvard School of Business. He
served in the Army during World
War II and later accepted a posi-
tion from the city of Detroit, retir-
ing as deputy director, department
of environmental protection.
Mr. Panush was active in Jewish
and civic affairs. He served as
president of his governmental
employees organization and credit
unions, directed Jewish education
at his synagogue, was president
of Detroit's Metropolitan B'nai
B'rith Council. Later, he served
as president of his congrega-
tion in Clearwater, president of
the Pinellas County, Fla., mental
health association, and held other
leadership roles in community
relations, the Anti-Defamation
League, Clearwater library, Zionist
Organization of America, Jewish
National Fund, Jewish federations,
Hillel Foundation, Jewish com-
munity councils, Jewish Historical
Society, Clearwater Beautification
Council.
Mr. Panush received many
awards and honors for his con-
tributions, including citations
from the mayors of Detroit and
Clearwater, a woodland in his
honor in the B'nai B'rith Martyr's
Forest in Israel, the State of Israel
HARVEY JAY AUSLANDER,
61, of West Bloomfield, died Sept. 12,
2006. He was the owner of Harvey
Electronics for 36 years in Farmington
Hills.
He is survived by his beloved
wife, Marsha Auslander; mother,
Sophie Auslander; son, Kevin Meyer
Auslander of West Bloomfield; daugh-
ters and son-in-law, Joni and John
Alsfasser of Farmington, Suzanne
Auslander of Farmington; sister and
companion, Judy Auslander and Irwin
Kamm of West Bloomfield; grandson,
Jonah Alsfasser; mother-in-law, Bertha
Weinstein; sisters-in-law and brothers-
in-law, Sheldon and Marcie Weinstein,
Scroll, the Samuel Greely Award
for public servants and an award
from the Jewish Theological
Seminary.
He is survived by his wife,
Anne Hecker Panush of Florham
Park, N.J.; daughter and son-in-
law, Ellen and Julian Zelenko of
Raanana, Israel; son and daugh-
ter-in-law, Dr. Richard Panush and
Rena Joffe Panush of Florham
Park; grandchildren, Jeremy
and Betty Zelenko, Daniel and
Tal Zelenko, Rivka Zelenko, Avi
Zelenko, Rachel Panush and
Will Grant, Jonathan and David
Panush; great-grandchildren,
Idan , Shani and Yuval Zelenko,
Lia and Etan Grant; broth-
ers, Sol Panush, Irving Panush;
nieces and nephews, Dr. Leon
and Sharon Hochman, Nana and
Daniel Greenberg, Dr. Daniel and

He was the brother of the late
Louis Panush.
Interment was at Clover Hill
