WHEN AMY WEINSTEIN INVITED us into her Birmingham home, she was certain we wouldn't
want to photograph it. The interior designer, vice president of Jeffrey King Interiors, also in
Birmingham, was to be profiled in Platinum. Our visit was intended to discuss her work, which
is distinguished by clean, almost minimalist design, yet always
focused on the character and life of the inhabitant. "I'm so busy
working and raising my kids, I don't have the time to put into my
own home," Weinstein explained.

Our goal is to be a part of the

fabric of the Jewish community

She may not have had a master plan for the space's design, but
we loved being privy to the accumulation of the stuff of her life
and her casual yet precise arrangement of it all. We were so struck
by the cozy warmth that enveloped visitors to her own home, we
wanted to fling open her doors for all to see. And lucky for us,
Weinstein graciously acquiesced.
We could say that we like to feature real-life interiors because
family and home are such vital components of the Jewish com-
munity and its spirit; while this is the absolute truth, I also wonder:
Who would turn down the chance to indulge the voyeur within all of
us and peek inside a gorgeous home, let alone that of a hot
