the Israel-Lebanon conflict; then the
silence was broken by the fussy cries
of perhaps the youngest in the crowd,
an infant in her stroller. And so it goes
in the world Jewish family — death
and violence may surround us, but life
exerts an even stronger pull.
More than 200 listened to interna-
tional terrorism expert Dr. Sabi Shabtai
discuss the conflict in the Middle East
Aug. 24 at the Jewish Community
Center of Washtenaw County
Malcolm Cohen, president of the
Jewish Federation of Washtenaw
County, outlined reasons to contribute
to the Federation's Israel Emergency
Campaign. Of a total goal of $500,000,
community members contributed
$356,000 to rebuild and revitalize Israel.
