LEHMANN, 99, of Clinton Township, died Aug. 25, 2006. She was raised in Switzerland. In the late 1920s, her mother took the family to live in Paris and Ala decided to go into the fashion busi- ness, working in fashion houses. She married and, during the war, moved to Nice, finally crossing the border to Switzerland, where she continued to work in the fashion world. After the war, she returned to Paris, where she settled with her husband, who was an agent for artists. When he died, she decided on a move to the United States and she settled in the Detroit area, working for the Walton Pierce Company as a dress designer. She also took classes in sculpture and started a French-speaking club. Mrs. Lehmann was a member and volunteer for Hadassah and the Detroit Institute of Arts.
