HOME IMPROVEMENT

S

ummer is a great time for traveling, playing outside
and enjoying our beautiful surroundings. But as fall
starts to make its appearance, on the calendar and
in cooler evenings, we begin to think about cocooning again
— getting our homes buttoned up for the inevitable winter and
spending more time inside.
A growing number of people have gone a step further, making improvements
that add value to their property and upgrading their home's amenities, space and
ambiance. This JN Home Improvement section takes a look at some of those peo-
ple and why they have chosen to make major investments in their homes.
In addition, not to get too far ahead of the season, we couldn't help but look at
gardens and landscaping at the height of the growing season. We are sure that you
will agree that focusing on the garden, plantings and whimsy of Howard and Lili
Ann Camden in West Bloomfield is a wonderful choice, both for the scope and beau-
ty of what they have done to their home's surroundings and the ideas they present

that you may wish to emulate.
So enjoy JN Home Improvement. May it be a source of ideas for your own home-
stead and an extra glimpse of beauty as summer in Michigan draws to a glorious close.
