Rabbi Dr. Abraham Twerski

Ordained in 1951, Rabbi Dr. Abraham Twerski held a
pulpit for eight years before entering the field of
psychiatry to share his natural gift for counseling. A
world-renowned expert on substance abuse, Twerski
has authored more than 60 books and articles, some
translated into several languages. He offers practical
advice on everything from self-esteem and spirituality
to counseling, prayer and even weight loss, and is a
sought-after speaker whose messages of hope have
encouraged and inspired audiences around the world.
Twerski is founder and medical director emeritus of
Gateway Rehabilitation Center, a not-for-profit drug
and alcohol treatment system in western
Pennsylvania, cited by Forbes magazine as one of the
nation's 12 best drug and alcohol treatment centers
and listed in the treatment guide, 'The 100 Best
Treatment Centers for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse."
