"I grew up with a full knowledge of
the Holocaust and a lot more informa-

says McDonald, whose paternal grand-
father was a Presbyterian minister. "The
fear of being disintegrated, captured

"I was an atheist, but I'm not any-
more. I believe in a higher power, broth-

nate to have a moment of grace and get

McDonald, whose first wife was
Jewish, is married for the third time
and has become an activist for the
nursing profession because of the work
of his current spouse.
