Virtual Tourism Project
New York/JTA — An American
Jewish umbrella group officially
launched a program to boost tour-
ism to Israel. Prospective tourists
now can make reservations for
Israeli hotels online and use them
until June 30, 2007, as part of a
virtual tourism project Conceived
by the Conference of Presidents
of Major American Jewish
Organizations.
The program allows travelers to
choose between hotels, guesthouses
and bed-and-breakfasts in eastern,
western or central Galilee. The
initiative aims to raise $1 million
for Israel's tourism industry, which
has been hurt by the war with
Hezbollah.
Reservations can be made online
at www.hofesh-latzafon.co.il or by
calling (800) 738-0548.

When it came to solar technology,
Michigan was the brightest spot.

Christians Back Israelis
Washington/JTA — A U.S. group
supported by evangelical Christians
recently pledged $9 million to
help residents of northern Israel.
The International Fellowship of
Christians and Jews will provide
assistance to 1,500 families whose
houses have been damaged during
Israel's war with Hezbollah.

Israel Needs Us
Jerusalem/JTA — Ehud Olmert
asked North American Jews for
help in fighting Hezbollah. "I
believe this is a war which is fought
by all the Jews," the Israeli prime
minister said in a conference call
and Webcast on Monday. The call
was sponsored by the United Jewish
Communities to launch its Israel
Emergency Campaign.

Reuters Photo Doctored
Reuters admitted
it altered a photograph of an Israeli
airstrike on Beirut, making the
bombardment appear more intense.
The news agency said the doctored
image showed much more black
smoke billowing over the build-
ings following Saturday's strike
than there actually was. The news
agency said it fired the Lebanese
photographer who submitted the
photo.
On Monday, Reuters withdrew a
caption that accompanied a photo
of an Israeli air force jet releasing
flares over Lebanon to confuse
anti-aircraft missiles. The caption
said the plane was firing rockets.

Auburn Hills and has launched a major expansion to Greenville. Why here? Because the Michigan Economic
